DRIVER / OPERATOR - AERIAL

INSTRUCTOR: Perry Weller
DESCRIPTION: A four module course with detailed instruction on the operation, maintenance and design of Aerial Ladder Apparatus.
The modules include: Module 6, Type and Construction of Aerial Apparatus; Module 7, Positioning Aerial Apparatus; Module 8, Aerial Apparatus, Strategy and Tactics; Module 9, Aerial Apparatus Testing.
COST: $50.00 per student
Students must be certified in Firefighter 1 and EVOC class 3.
Full turn out gear is needed.

2008 Requirements – The following personnel must be certified in ICS 300 by September 2008; middle management, tactical level management, command and general staff, incident and area commanders, emergency managers, county administrators/city managers, EOC staff, division/group supervisors, branch directors, strike team/task force leaders.
Students must be certified in IS-700, IS-100, IS-200, & IS-800 (before class starts)

TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT
EVOC – LEVEL – I II & III

WHEN: October 11 & 12, 2008
TIME: 08:30 both days
INSTRUCTOR: Ben Wilmer
COST: $20.00 per student
HOURS: 16
DESCRIPTION: A course designed to enhance safe vehicle operation by stressing theory and principles of defensive driving in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Virginia Motor Vehicle laws pertinent to the operation of emergency vehicles is included in the course. This class is not designed to teach the student to drive, but rather to explain how emergency driving differs from non-emergency driving. Although some driving experience will be gained through the practical exercises, it is strongly recommended that the student have adequate driving experience in the vehicle. The course requires 16 hours of instruction (100% attendance required for certification), 8 hours classroom and 8 hours consisting of practical exercises. A written examination is required for the classroom portion and students will be evaluated during the driving exercises. An EVOC certificate will be awarded to each student successfully completing the course.
NOTES: Students must have a valid driver’s license in order to participate in the practical exercises. Students must be 18 years of age (minimum) to receive certification. Students less than 18 years of age may take the classroom instruction only. Students will receive 16 hours of category 2 CE if EMS certified! Students will need to bring an apparatus to drive on Sunday! Student manuals will be provided.
